Shikika transcends. A young Japanese woman of breathtaking beauty gazes out with a serene, otherworldly grace — poised before white blossoms, her kimono and areas of the canvas are of deep, luminous purples touched with gold, white, and the faintest, most exquisite splash of hot pink. She embodies all four seasons at once: the fullness of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, the stillness of winter. In the lower right corner, a Japanese symbol representing all four seasons completes the composition with quiet, timeless meaning.
This work reflects an abstract-realist approach, combining a recognisable portrait with an expressive floral background.
This piece is the crowning work of the Japanese Women – Four Seasons collection.
